Imaging in Clinical/Translational Cancer Research -- 3 Day Course

Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 8:00am to 5:00pm

Sheraton Commander Hotel 16 Garden St, Cambridge, MA 02138

Are you interested in using imaging as a tool to unlock questions in your oncology research? Do you need an overview of the different preclinical and clinical imaging modalities available? Would you like the opportunity to network with imaging experts in the Harvard community? If yes, we invite you to participate in this new and exciting course.

This three-day course offers an overview of the utility of imaging in research in its application to oncology. Participants will have the opportunity to consider how they might use imaging in their own preclinical or clinical research. The specific goals of this course are to

- introduce attendees to the available imaging technologies commonly used in cancer research;

- convey the potential, as well as the limitations of these approaches;

- expose attendees to a variety of applications of the imaging technologies; and

- present the types of imaging biomarkers and endpoints that could be used in clinical trials.

The course will consist of didactic lectures and interactive components based on the following topics:

- Anatomic Imaging and Therapy Guidance
- Functional/Molecular Imaging
- Preclinical Imaging
- Emerging Technologies

Course Directors: Jeffrey Yap, PhD, Director; Fiona Fennessy, MD, PhD, Co-director; Heather Jacene, MD, Co-director
