Competing risks data are inherent to cancer research in which failure can be categorized by its type, and the information on each type of failure is as important as the overall probability of the failure. The first part of my talk will focus on the history of competing risks data, theoretical development, and an overview of competing risks data analysis. The second part will focus on issues and challenges of competing risks data analysis by presenting a survey of over 100 published papers that contains competing risks data analysis.
