RCR Rounds: Tissue Issues 2013 - Current IRB Perspectives

The Brigham and Women's Hospital Center for Clinical Investigation (CCI)presents a discussion that will focus on one of today’s hot topics surrounding large scale genomic and genetic research – return of genetic research results. The presentation will consider this issue from the regulatory, public, and ethical perspectives, as well as discuss the Partners Human Research Committee guidelines for reporting genetic results. This session is designed to discuss what's new in the field; time will also be devoted to questions

This course is recommended for both new and experienced clinicians, clinical investigators, nurses, and other clinical research staff who wish to expand their knowledge regarding research using human tissue.

Responsible Conduct of Research Rounds, or “RCR Rounds," are open to the entire BWH research community and are sponsored by either the Center for Clinical Investigation (CCI) and/or the Center for Faculty Development and Diversity Office for Research Careers (ORC). - define the difference between “results related to the research” and “incidental findings”
- identify issues to consider when proposing returning research results to research subjects
